Our private program is intended to facilitate access to those who have been on a waiting list for far too long.
The Ottawa Health: Performance and Rehabilitation Medical Program launched in November 2022. Independent Nurse Practitioners (NPs) offer this program, and it’s available to anyone looking for medical services.
All new patients must have an assessment with our NP as part of their enrolment. Any service you require after enrolment will have a specific fee. This method also expedites the waiting time to receive certain services.
For example, if a patient sees one of our chiropractors or physiotherapists and needs an MRI, rather than instructing you to find a physician to obtain a requisition, you can see our Nurse Practitioner to receive the requisition almost immediately and expedite your access to the right care.
There are 3 ways to access our NP—
1. Annual membership option
There are 4 annual membership plans available—Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Family. Each plan includes an annual assessment and a predetermined number of visits per year. The family plan allows 20 visits to be distributed between the members of your family.
This plan is an excellent option for those who do not have any ongoing concerns, and only require occasional appointments for things like prescription refills or referrals. Fees are collected upon enrolment.
2. Monthly membership
This option is most recommended for individuals with chronic conditions that require constant monitoring. This membership allows for up to 24 visits/year and includes all supplies needed for injections, referrals, requisitions, and more. Fees are collected monthly.
3. Pay as you go
This is the best option for those who just need a quick service. It’s our most popular option for young and healthy individuals. You only pay for the service you require.
For OHIP members
Unfortunately, OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan) does not cover the cost of seeing our Nurse Practitioner, but OHIP may cover the tests, referrals, and labs they order. The fees you pay are strictly for covering the appointment with our NP, similar to the fees you pay when seeing our chiropractors or physiotherapists.
If our NP recommends you go for a lab test, X-ray, or MRI, OHIP will cover the cost of that
examination.
If you are wondering whether these services are covered through third-party or employment insurance, the best thing to do would be to call your insurance provider and ask them directly.
*** Some services may require a full assessment. For example, if you need a new medication, we will need to conduct a full assessment and get your entire history to avoid any medication interactions. Other services like “ingrown nail removals” don’t need a full assessment; you only pay for the service provided.
